Macatawa Park Real Estate Macatawa Michigan

Macatawa Park is an area of historic cottages mosty Victorian in style, dating from the 1800's. Macatawa Park and it's neighbor across the channel, Ottawa Beach, were originally American Indian lands which were ceded to the Untied States in 1821. Steamboats and railroads brought many visitors to this area and it wasn't long and the Macatawa Park area became a tourist destination! Formally called Black Lake, Lake Macatawa received it's new name in 1935.

Macatawa Park Real Estate Macatawa Michigan

Macatawa Park Real Estate Macatawa Michigan

Macatawa Park was established in 1881 after a group of men platted the land near the harbor for a pleasure resort and park,  Lake Macatawa and Macatawa Park today feature the beautiful cottages and homes lining the channel as well as  restaurants, resorts and awesome boating.  Easy access to Lake Michigan with a scenic boat ride past Big Red, make this area a great place to call home whether it's for the summer, weekends or all year long!

Lake Macatawa is found just to the west of Holland, MI and connects with Lake Michigan, creating a paradise for summer recreation that people from all over Michigan and beyond have come to enjoy. The lake is mostly shallow water, formed from the mouth of the Macatawa River. Most of the shoreline is occupied by beautiful homes and cottages, although Holland State Park is also present along the north shore of the lake.

When it comes to real estate along the lakes shores, high-end vacation properties are present in large numbers. These homes are beautiful to look at, and come with a price tag to match. Properties valued in the $1,000,000 range and up are not uncommon around Lake Macatawa. If a buyer wishes to find something in a little bit of a lower range, there are properties significant less expensive that can be seen on the market, but they generally will not be on waterfront property or have direct access to the lake.

There are many excellent reasons to shop for real estate in the Macatawa Park area, including the proximity to everything else that the eastern shores of Lake Michigan have to offer. There are seemingly endless opportunities for summer activities both on and near the lake, so this region has become quite popular both for vacation homes and permanent residences. Fishing, boating, swimming, bike riding, golfing, and much more are all common pastimes in the Western Michigan area.

Due to the limited availability of space around Lake Macatawa, real estate is often in high demand when it does hit the market. If you are hoping to find a vacation (or permanent) home on the shores of the lake, you will want to pay close attention to the market and work with a qualified real estate agent with knowledge of the region. Especially if you are coming from outside the immediate Holland area, it will be helpful to work with an agent who can advise you on the specifics of the area and what to look for in the perfect real estate property.

Whether for a new place to call home or just for a summer getaway, there is a lot to like about the Lake Macatawa area. Between the natural beauty of the region and the numerous recreational activities available, it is not hard to see why this is such a popular spot.
