There isn't much distance from where the North and South Branches of the Kalamazoo River originate. The South Branch begins near North Adams in Moscow Township. The North Branch begins near farewell and Pine Hills lakes.

If you want to visit the Kalamazoo River there are some great places you can go. If you're considering moving to the area and want a quieter pace of life than the city, you may want to look into a little place called Saugatuck. While you won't find a largeamount of big activities going on, there are still plenty of things for families to do while visiting or throughout the course of their time living there.

Saugatuck, Michigan is a beautiful place to be. There are sandy beaches that are not over populated with people and noise. If you're a nature enthusiast this is a great place for you to go to check out the seagulls and other wildlife that may be present. Oval Beach has gotten great ratings from National Geographic Traveler Magazines as well as the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.

For those of you that don't want to stay on the beach all day you may want to check out the neat little antique shops and restaurants nearby. There are also clothing shops for any clothing needs that you might have. If you come in the summer you'll find ice cream stands here and there. In June there is a Film Festival in town and in November the Children's Film Festival draws in crowds.

After you have gone shopping, eaten and walked the shoreline there are more things for you to do. There are golf courses and places to canoe, kayak and sail. There is a great floating maritime museum and even a hand-cranked ferry that takes people across the Kalamazoo River. You can charter a fishing boat, go horseback riding or check out the farmer's market.

There are many different places to stay from resorts on the lake shore, hotels and the finer bed and breakfasts. All of these offer warm and friendly accommodations for almost as many as you can bring. You can have an amazing vacation along Kalamazoo River or a great family outing.
